4000 YEAR OLD ANCIENT EGYPTIAN DOUBLE BEAD ANTIQUE

The ancient Egyptians wore elaborate bead creations in both life and death.  The aegis, the sacred neck splay worn by Isis is the ultimate bead creation.  In order to align the strings, spacers and double beads were interspersed.  This is a rare double bead dating to the XVIII dynasty, 1570-1349 BC.  It is faience,  4.5 mm overall and made as two conjoined beads.  It was strung with the tubular faience beads identified with that period and served keep two adjacent strands aligned.  It is a piece of Egyptian history as well as bead history and a fine addition to any bead collection.  6B17
