ANCIENT EGYPTIAN AMETHYST 3500 YR OLD PENDANT BEAD

This is a faceted amethyst pendant which was part of an Egyptian necklace dating to the New Kingdom period, C.1550-1300 BC.  That makes it about 3500 years old.  It is tear shaped and 8.4 mm or 1/3 inch long.  It is pierced with a very small hole because it was strung on gold wire originally.  A similar necklace is shown in Jewelry Through 7000 Years ( British Museum publication) on page 59.  As with that example, this one was one a series in graduated sizes which made up the necklace.  When we bought it, the necklace was incomplete and we are selling the pendants individually.  They come with certification of authenticity and make a beautiful thoughtful gift.
