This is a Viking Gold overlay Broach from the York, UK excavations. The heart shape had a special significance among Vikings and represented eternity and the power of the god Odin to induce battle-madness in warriors.
This one measures over 0.62"(15.9mm)w x 0.74"(18.8mm)h and would make a great addition to an antiquities collection or for incorporating in to a modern jewelry design.
