Vikings settled in Jorvik (now York, England) in 866 and in the
following years, occupied about half of what is now England. They
farmed and established manufacturing centers where a variety of items
including beads were produced. Beads were vary valuable at that time.
The Vikings especially valued them and often took beads as tribute. For
auction is a Viking carnelian pendant from the York area dating
C.866-1067 AD. It is round and a major piece of jewelry at 13.1 mm,
.52". The pendant is mounted on a 18" Sterling silver chain. This is a
Viking classic and fine addition to any antiquity collection or modern
