PAIR OF ANTIQUE ANCIENT ROMAN CARNELIAN BEADS

This is a pair of ancient Roman carnelian beads dating C.100 BC-100AD. Carnelian is a very hard stone and each is laboriously hand polished to size and shape and drilled for stringing. All that without the benefit of modern tools or abrasives. Each bead must have taken many hours to create and been very valuable when made. They are all about 1/3” in diameter (8.6mm) which is quite large and usable for a modern jewelry creation. These can be used individually to accent bead jewelry and add a great story. Condition is as shown.
